Vassourão-branco: Full Sun Plant

During the first few years, keep the soil uniformly moist but never waterlogged—the species does not tolerate poorly drained or flooded soils. Once established, it usually sustains itself with regional rainfall (between 1,200 and 2,300 mm annually) without the need for frequent watering.

As an adult plant, it is heliophilic and requires full sun to grow well and maintain a dense canopy; young seedlings tolerate partial shade in the nursery but should be gradually exposed to the sun before final planting.

Prefers well-drained soils with loamy to clayey textures and tolerates low-fertility soils or even surfaces altered by earthmoving. Avoid waterlogged, compacted, or poorly drained soils, as these promote root rot.

This species is not recommended for permanent container cultivation due to its large arboreal size (up to 30 m). During the seedling stage, use plastic bags or large tubes (approximately 20 x 7 cm) with good drainage until 5-6 months of age, at which point the seedling can be moved to full sun before final planting in the ground.
