What is Amazon Lily?
Amazon Lily (Eucharis amazonica) is a medium-care plant from the Amaryllidaceae family. The Amazon Lily is a perennial bulb from the Amaryllidaceae family, native to Peru and the Amazon basin. Its fragrant white flowers resemble daffodils and bloom on upright stems above glossy, broad green leaves. It is highly valued as an indoor plant for its exotic beauty and relatively easy care.
Amazon Lily grows up to 75cm, with spread of 45cm, watering every 4 days, 15°C â 30°C, 60â90% humidity. It is suitable for indoor environments and not safe for pets.
Care Guide
How to Water
Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry. Reduce watering during the dormancy period after flowering. Never let the bulb sit in waterlogged soil, as it rots easily.
Lighting
Prefers bright, diffused light such as from an east or west-facing window. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves quickly.
Ideal Soil
Use rich, well-draining potting mix such as a blend of peat, perlite, and organic compost. Ideal pH is between 5.5 and 6.5.
Recommended Pot
Ceramic or terracotta pot with good drainage. Prefer snug pots, as the plant blooms better when bulbs are crowded.

Every 30 days

How to Propagate
Bulb division
Only divide when the pot is very crowded. The plant blooms best when pot-bound. After division, it may take up to a year to bloom again.
- 1 Remove the plant from its pot and separate offsets that have at least one leaf
- 2 Plant each offset in moist, well-draining potting mix
- 3 Keep in a warm location with indirect light
- 4 Water moderately until new growth appears
Materials needed:
Offset separation
Offsets with leaves establish much faster. Provide indirect light and bottom heat if possible.
- 1 Identify lateral bulblets with at least one leaf
- 2 Carefully separate from the mother bulb
- 3 Plant in moist potting mix at 2-3 cm depth
- 4 Keep warm with good humidity

Common Problems
Root Rot
Root rot is a serious fungal disease that affects the root system of plants, causing them to decay and die. It is primarily caused by overwatering, poor drainage, or soil-borne fungi such as Pythium, Phytophthora, Rhizoctonia, and Fusarium. The disease thrives in waterlogged conditions where roots are deprived of oxygen, making them susceptible to fungal infection.
Gray Mold (Botrytis Blight)
Gray mold, caused by the fungus Botrytis cinerea, is one of the most common fungal diseases in plants. It affects over 200 plant species, including ornamentals, vegetables, fruits, and houseplants. The disease thrives in cool, humid conditions with poor air circulation, causing grayish spots and soft rot on infected tissues.
Spider Mites
Spider mites are tiny arachnids (less than 1/20 inch long) related to spiders and ticks that feed on plant sap. They thrive in hot, dry conditions and can cause significant damage to ornamental and vegetable plants. During severe infestations, crop losses can reach 14% or higher as these pests disrupt vital plant processes including photosynthesis, carbon dioxide absorption, and transpiration.
Mealybugs
Mealybugs are small, soft-bodied insects covered with a white, waxy, cottony material. They are common pests of houseplants and outdoor plants in mild climates. These sap-sucking insects feed on plant tissue, causing damage, stunted growth, and can lead to plant death if left untreated. They produce sticky honeydew which attracts sooty mold.
Meaning & Symbolism
Symbolizes grace, purity, and elegance. The name comes from Greek "eu" (true) and "charis" (grace). Commonly used in wedding bouquets and christenings.
